Em Wise is a dynamic, Paris-based singer-songwriter and self-taught producer. Raised in Saratoga, New York, she discovered her passion for music at an early age. She spent nine years playing viola in local string orchestras—focusing on classical, jazz, and blues—and performed in her school’s chamber orchestra and local theater productions before moving to Boston for university.
While studying, Wise co-founded Boston University's BassLine in 2022. She initially arranged music for the group, a process that quickly unlocked her natural affinity for songwriting. In August 2024, at age 22, she launched her solo career with a performance at The Jungle in Somerville, followed by her debut single, "Liability," that September.
In April 2026, Wise released her debut album, 90 Degree Dreams, a compilation of DIY demos and voice memos tracking her musical evolution from the very beginning. Later that August, she played a farewell show at The Burren Backroom before relocating to Paris to expand her creative network.
Describing music as her heartbeat, Wise invites listeners on an emotional journey through themes of love, loss, and identity. Her sound weaves light, whimsical melodies with rich storytelling. Driven by a wide array of genres, she pairs soulful vocals with guitar, viola, and deeply layered harmonies to captivate and move her audience.
Wise's message to listeners:
My adopted identity has shaped how I see the world and deeply influences my music. I hope to connect with those who have felt like they didn't quite belong. My dream is to channel my creative intuitions and emotions into relatable pieces of art that everyone can enjoy. I hope you stay awhile!
